Washed Stone Flooring: Passivator, Iron Oxide Color Pigment, Sealer (Universal for washed stone/ aggregate washed sand flooring, practical construction site version)

I. Passivator (Surface Retarder, the core material for the success of washed stone)

✅ Function: It delays the setting of the top 1–3mm cement paste, allowing the lower layer of the floor to harden normally; after being left to stand for a period, the softened top paste can be easily washed away with a high-pressure water gun, uniformly exposing the stones and creating a textured washed stone effect. It precisely controls the exposure depth of the aggregate, preventing stones falling off due to over-washing or failing to expose the aggregate due to insufficient washing.

 Usage Method:

1. Spraying Timing: Spray after the washed stone been spread, leveled, and finished, provided there is no flowing water on the surface and the surface is not sticky to a light finger press;

2. Construction Method: Mix evenly use a spray machine to achieve uniform mist coverage, and strictly avoid missing spots or the accumulation of liquid; Standard dosage: 0.3–0.4kg/㎡, cover with after spraying to maintain moisture and prevent rapid drying and failure;

3. Washing Time Reference (Must test-wash on a small area first!):

- Room temperature 2–28°C: 10–16 hours washing

- Summer high temperature above 30°C: 6–10 hours

- Low temperature –18°C: 18–24 hours

4. Use a low-pressure water gun at a 45° angle to wash away the top cement; exposing 1/3 to 1/2 of the stone is best; after washing, rinse clean with fresh water and let it air dry for curing.

> Risk Washing too early → large-scale stone detachment; Washing too late → cement hardens, the paste skin cannot be washed off, and it cannot be repaired.

II. Iron Color Pigment (Inorganic Coloring Pigment)

✅ Function: Added to the cement paste during the mixing stage to color the entire cement base between the stones; UV-resistant and rainresistant, it does not easily fade under long-term outdoor sunlight; can be mixed to create landscape colors such as ochre, terracotta, brick red, and gray.

> Note It only changes the color of the cement base; the color of the stones themselves remains unchanged.

 Usage Method:

1. Addition Ratio (based on cement weight): Light: 3%–4%; Regular colors: 4%–6%; Dark colors: maximum 8% (excessive amounts reduce cement strength and cause easy sanding); For cement coloring: reduce pigment dosage by 25% for a softer and brighter color.

2. Mixing Sequence (to prevent color streaks and patches): Cement   Iron Oxide Color Pigmentmix dry powders thoroughly first** → add stones and mix dry → finally add water to mix;

❌ Strictly forbidden to throw the pigment directly into water for mixing.

3. : The color is darker when the concrete is wet and becomes lighter overall when dry; it is recommended to make a small sample in advance to compare the color difference between wet and dry states

III. Sealant (Outdoor-grade dual-component polyurethane weather-resistant topcoat, available in matte/glossy)  ✅ 1. Locks in the cement base color, preventing sun-induced fading and cement efflorescence (whitening); 2. Seals cement capillary pores, providing waterproofing and oil resistance making it difficult for stains to penetrate crevices; 3. Reinforces the bond between stones and cement, slowing weathering and reducing the probability of stone detachment; 4. Unifies ground differences, enhances the texture of washed stones, and allows for easy daily cleaning with a high-pressure water gun.   Application Method 1. Pre-construction requirements: The stone must be cured for at least 7 days after rinsing, the ground must be completely dry and cleared of floating dust; construction is prohibited when humidity >85%, on rainy days or when the temperature is below 5°C; 2. Application dosage: Total dosage is 0.25–0.35kg/㎡, applied in two: The first coat is a thin spray for penetration and sealing; the second coat is sprayed in a cross direction; For large areas, high-pressure airless spraying is preferred, while-hair rollers can be used for small areas; 3. Traffic time: No walking allowed for 4 hours until surface dry; pedestrian traffic allowed after 24 hours; cured after 7 days, allowing non-motorized vehicles and small cars.

Complete construction process for washed stone: Mix cement   stones   iron oxide color powder → Spread level, and smooth the surface → Spray passivating agent → Periodically rinse with a high-pressure water gun to expose aggregates → Clean with fresh water, air dry and cure for  days → Ensure ground is dry and dust-free → Apply two coats of sealant → Finished product
